Attendance
The school day begins at 8:55 am with the doors opening at 8:45am. Children arriving after 8:55am should report to the main office. If a child is absent parents should inform the school at their earliest convenience on 0161 430 4601. Where a child’s attendance is causing concern, parents may be invited into school to discuss the reasons for this and to see how the school can work with them to make improvements.
The benefits of consistent and regular attendance is full access to the curriculum and the school seeks to work with parents to achieve this. Parents are requested to book routine appointments outside of school hours if possible and when this is not, to bring their child to school before and/or after the appointment. Parents are further requested to avoid term-time holidays; only in exceptional circumstances will these be authorised. Please note that in the event of sickness and diarrhoea, children should remain off school for 48 hours after the last symptoms. For other infections, parents should seek medical advice. The government produces health protection in schools guidance on its website.
The school values regular and punctual attendance and actively promotes this. Classes compete for the weekly attendance trophy which is awarded at the Friday afternoon assembly. Classes achieving 98% or greater attendance in week enjoy a non-uniform day the following Friday. Children with 100% attendance in a half term are entered into a draw with prizes donated by the Manchester United Foundation and tickets to other family events.
