Cookery Classroom

The school has a purpose built, fully equipped, cookery classroom that is used to teach children the varied skills used in the kitchen. They learn about ingredients and where they come from; cookery techniques such as knife skills; how to use tools and equipment safely; food hygiene and most importantly, how to cook some fantastic food!

Use of the cookery classroom is linked to work in the International Primary Curriculum and Science topics and, of course, to work done in the school’s garden areas. So, if children are learning about how plants grow well in Science, they would grow vegetables and fruit in the garden and cook their produce in the kitchen.

After School Club

Children have opportunities to enhance their cookery skills in the after school club. This is linked to the national Let’s Get Cooking organisation. Recipes cooked in the club have included: Fruit Crumble, Savoury Muffins, Samosas, Pizzas, Breads and Tomato and Mozzarella Filo Tarts. Many recipes used in school are available on the Let’s get Cooking Website. Why not try cooking their Recipe of the Month?
