Computing

“But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:21
“Everybody should learn to program a computer, because it teaches you how to think.” - Steve Jobs (Co-Founder of Apple)
At St. Bernadette's, we aim for every child to develop the computing skills they need to thrive as responsible, capable, and confident members of our digital society. We want to inspire students to carry forward these skills into their future learning at secondary school, higher education, and eventually, their careers. Equally important, we believe that children should understand the diverse applications of technology in today’s world and know how to engage with various communication tools safely, responsibly, and thoughtfully.
In today’s world, technology is a fundamental skill for daily life. Tools such as computers, tablets, programmable robots, and digital cameras offer powerful ways to gather, organize, store, interpret, communicate, and present information. We are committed to providing students with high-quality hardware and software, along with a structured and progressive learning approach. This ensures that each pupil has the opportunity to build and strengthen the skills they need to use these tools effectively.
At St-Bernadette's we use the Connected Computing Curriculum from Hi-Impact. This curriculum is broken down into 3 sections; Information Technology/Digital Literacy, Computer Science and Online Safety.
